Retreat

Off Your Mat and Into Your Life
A Spring Retreat on Whidbey Island
With Kelly Valenzuela

Friday, April 30 – Sunday, May 2, 2010

Kelly Valenzuela

I invite you to join me for a special weekend on five secluded acres of trees and trails to give yourself the gift of retreat. Taking retreat not only gives us reprieve from our daily activities, it calls forth Intention, giving opportunity to deepen and expand our relationship to Self.

So often we are at the effect of our mental ticker tape of planning, remembering, judging, and managing. We have moments of presence and clarity on our yoga mat or in deep concentration but it can be difficult to maintain throughout our day. This “Off Your Mat and Into Your Life” weekend retreat will help you bring the peaceful presence and calm you experience on your mat and while on retreat, into your daily life. Through asana, meditation, pranayama and yogic teachings, you will slow the stream of mental fluctuations and cultivate the quiet that lies beneath them. You will return to your life and your loved ones with greater and more immediate access to that quiet calm within, and a practice for its continued presence.

Taking retreat is drawing a line; it is making sacred time, dedicated to renewal and practice. It reinforces our vision, it gives voice to our innermost self, and lays (or “re-lays”) the groundwork for the journey that includes what is most important in our lives.

Give yourself the gift of retreat and register now.

Instructor

Kelly has been teaching hatha yoga for the past 10 years not only as an asana practice, but as a way of life. She believes yoga is a journey of self discovery, self awareness and self-love, leading us through ever deepening levels to our True and Highest Self. In her classes, Kelly invites her students to meet themselves exactly where they are, to breathe, and to allow the unfolding of their bodies to mirror the unfolding of their Hearts.

Her teaching style balances sthira and sukha, effort and ease, combining strong, active poses and sequences with calming, grounding stillness. In this way the physical self can soften and relax helping the inner self, our mind and emotions, to become more still and more at peace - this is where we find to our Yoga, our Union.

Kelly is a Master’s Level Therapist with an M.A. from Bastyr University, and holds yoga teaching certificates from Mount Madonna Center in California and Sarah Powers, and a BFA in Modern Dance.
