Summer Whidbey Retreat
with Jennifer Isaacson

Friday, August 20 - Sunday, August 22, 2010

Jennifer Isaacson

The Yoga Lodge is a sanctuary, a world away from your own. This immersion is designed to restore your physical and energetic alignment by rising and falling with the sun, eating clean foods, and detoxifying the mind and body with yoga and optional evening sauna sweats. We’ll explore the island’s trails, coastline, deer, birds, ponds and meadows. On retreat, all participants are given the opportunity to unplug from electronic devices and plug into nature, community, silence, laughter, and clarity.

Over the course of 3 days, your practice will evolve through the practical application of new anatomical concepts. Each yoga session will begin with Richelle offering a brief lecture on anatomy followed by Jennifer teaching through that specific lens of intent. Enjoy informative lectures, yoga, breathing techniques, restoratives, partner yoga, nature walks, and meditation. The schedule is designed to provide a beautiful balance between activity and release. All practices are optional, but your full participation is encouraged.

Your Instructors

Jennifer Isaacson
In college, I stumbled upon yoga after a hip-hop dance class in 1997. I’m forever grateful for the diversity of my liberal arts education. Once I connected to Kim King-Zamoff’s version of vinyasa, I practiced with her extensively for five years. I got my first teaching certificate from Kim in 2002. I taught  for the next 4 years and decided to continue my studies at Seattle’s Samadhi Yoga Center. My understanding of teaching, Sanskrit, yogic philosophy and scriptures, mantra, and anatomy was enriched under Kathleen Hunt’s guidance. I graduated with a RYT 200+hour certificate in 2006 from Samadhi. I’ve also had the honor of immersing annually with Shiva Rea since 2004. Namaskars (salutations) to Kim, Kathleen, Shiva, their teacher’s teachers, and the lineage we share.

Richelle Ricard
Richelle started learning the healing arts at the age of 14 and has been a licensed clinical massage therapist and bodywork educator for eight years.   Her massage treatments regularly integrate therapeutic yoga exercises to help build the strength necessary to change a client’s postural habits.  Her perspective on massage has been influenced by many modalities and now focuses on direct myofascial release, range of motion and deep tissue, while integrating work on the energetic body.  Her work is aimed at treating injury, reducing chronic pain conditions and correcting postural distortions. As a Yogini, Richelle has studied different yoga traditions and disciplines through workshops with locally and nationally renowned instructors, trained in the YogaFit system and has graduated from the YogaWorks 200-hour teacher training.
