“Wendy owns and runs a retreat center and B&B that reflects her values. The Yoga Lodge is beautiful, simple, clean, balanced. It’s a wonderful place for small retreats and workshops. The wooded setting on Whidbey Island is an additional bonus.” ~ J.S.

From Wendy:
I first learned about The Yoga Lodge in 2003 while still living in Connecticut. As founder of YogaPuram, a yoga studio in downtown Hartford which operated for six years under my guidance, I was seeking a place where I could live, teach, and offer space to others for healing and reconnection to nature and spirit. It was a tumultuous time in my life. Things were shifting on all levels. The powerful energy of the island community and land on which The Yoga Lodge rests served as catalysts to sweep me cross-country. It was as if I was called to step into a wave that served something bigger than me. One of the major gifts of The Yoga Lodge is to witness this same energy nourishing and serving others who seek to align with and celebrate the creative flow of grace.
As my intention evolves I envision The Yoga Lodge as a living practice of embodying the flow of grace. The lodge is unique in the sense that only natural sounds are audible except for an occasional plane. The air is crisp and sweet. The food, obtained as much as possible from local organic farmers, is prepared with love to nourish all the senses and to delight the palate naturally. I hope that students and guests experience the presence and the supportive embrace of the place as inspiration to recognize and create beauty, to care and act as stewards to the land, environment and animals, and to step fully into the luminous place within themselves that serves only the highest good.
MAGGIE AND HOUDINI

Maggie is an eighteen lbs Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who was a gift to the lodge in May, 2005. She is the official greeter and yogi exemplar, as she can be found curled up with quiet mind on her cushion in the yoga space during each class. Maggie’s sweet disposition endears her to all, particularly if one is willing to play her favorite game, pinecone fetch. She is well mannered, terrific with children and naturally fits into the quiet environment of The Yoga Lodge.

Houdini is a medium size black & white fluffy feral cat who took refuge at The Yoga Lodge several years ago. He is an extraordinary magician to be able to survive safely amidst the many animals on the land, particularly the coyotes. Although Houdini spends most of his time in the wilds, he is extremely friendly and affectionate. His favorite places are the garden or hobbit shed. His favorite pastime is playing hide-and-seek with Maggie.
